7fold will host a technical, interactive training session either virtually or in-person.
On-demand trainings are ready and can be available with as little as 48 hours notice if hosted virtually. We prefer to tailor sessions to the needs of your firm, so by giving a 2 – 4 week lead time allows us to curate content specific to the skills your firm is targeting for growth.
Self-paced interactive video tutorials guides designers through workflows end to end. This format is a staple at 7fold that compliments a holistic resource strategy. It ensures the team has a consistent technical reference point and is available 24/7 even when subject matter experts have left the office for the day.
7fold will offer guidance to in-house technical staff for how to field day to day questions as designers implement workflows into practice.
Depending on the firm size, this can look like reinforcing support for existing Design Technology (DT) leaders or equipping designers on staff passionate about technology to position them to answer DT questions.
“BEP” for short- this technical document acts as a single source of truth for technology on a project. It carries critical information that aligns the entire team– from architect, consultant, general contractor, subcontractors, and owner– everyone stays on the same digital page with this foundational document when implemented correctly.
Given the vast amount of technical information required to develop & deliver a project, no one can remember everything all the time. The BEP acts as a bedrock reference point to align the technology on the project.
To name a few, this includes: (1) level of development (model fidelity), (2) metadata required and certified by which party, (3) the stack of tools and versions used, and (4) how data is exchanged between parties. A BEP sets the technical promises for projects where model and data deliverables are included above & beyond a conventional drawing set.
It’s worth establishing a starter BEP for each practice area in your firm to streamline how to get the critical info in place before the project kicks off.
The contents of a BEP tend to be dry for the reasons described above. To ease getting the team up to speed on the workflows, 7fold recommends complimenting the BEP with a Playbook that showcases exactly how to meet the delivery requirements step-by-step. This minimizes friction to adop the BEP when unfamiliar to the team. See Develop a Custom Technology Playbook below for more…
A “Playbook” is the term we use to refer to a collection of workflows documented in a clear, compelling way for designers to understand. Often using a mix of video tutorials, infographics, and interactive PDF’s to convey each step in the workflow.
This colors in the lines of requirements set forth in the BIM Execution Plan so it makes sense for every designer responsible for each aspect of the deliverable.
Priority is focused on documenting workflows not already well-established in the team. If a team member understands the process, the playbook can refer to that person instead of itemizing each step for certain portions of the work.
We develop a complete report documenting the value proposition of a single software or comparing similar software providers within a similar category.
We work with you to understand your firm goals & technology initiatives first so our findings relate to your broader strategy.
